No Bones about it all.... except Dancing through the Night-The Skeleton Dance: The very first SILLY SYMPHONY from Disney in back in 1929(Before the Wall Street Crash.... Thankfully)

On AUGUST 22 1929, 

A silly little Cartoon that doesn't feature any appearance of MICKEY or FRIENDS was released to cinemas everywhere.

Well..... This GIF pretty much spoiled the surprise but.... what the hell.....

THE SKELETON DANCE was the very first SILLY SYMPHONY.

What's a SILLY SYMPHONY you ask?

Well, you know how cartoonists would often use musical queues to time their animation to the musical beats of the soundtrack?

Just look at the video example from the OSWALD cartoon HELL'S HEELS from 1930.

Well.... SILLY SYMPHONY is built on the core concept of MUSIC and timing.

In this case, It's to time things to the musical beats and make sure it's entertaining as is.

And it's also an attempt at realistically drawing a skeleton.

While still retaining the design philosophies of the waning years of the 1920s and into the emerging decade of the 1930s.

Despite being called THE SKELETON DANCE

It's not about SKELETONs DANCING even though they do the deed.

It's about the SKELETONs just doing their day to day routines before the sunrises.

Particular moments include one Skeleton using his other fellow skeleton's spine as a makeshift Xylophone

From the good ole' days before NERDS nitpick on how to properly animate a xylophone and time it to the proper octave.

Why did I mention Good Ole' Days for 1929?

That year was a sign of bad times coming ahead if you're good with math and finances

Fortunately, THE SKELETON DANCE was released to Cinemas 2 months before the INFAMOUS CRASH in WALL STREET so we're good.

I should have done a post about this cartoon back in 2024 to celebrate the film's 95th Anniversary but the damn thing wasn't in the public domain until JANUARY 1 2025, so that's why I waited this long.
