Why is it when you watch a cartoon or an anime and you see what is supposed to be a tv, prebuilt computer, or a real-life product but then they have knock-off names such as MAGNETBOX, SORNY, IBN, WACDONALDS, SENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN, MAPPLE, or even OKAMA GAMESPHERE.
Well.... the reason cartoons and anime do this is because the brands of products in real life are copyrighted. Companies don't want to pay the real company royalties for using a real-life brand name so what do they do? Create their own or just make a name knock-off to the real-life brand name.
Some cartoons take it to the extreme.
DOUG for example replaces all real-life references, even public-domain ones, with their own stuff.... with the exception of Godzilla, Bob Ross, and Dr Seuss,
(DOUG'S 1ST MOVIE does reference Batman vs. Superman... a good 17 years before the 2016 movie)
I can only imagine if DOUG gets rebooted, the computer operating system will be Bluff OS though admittingly, that would be a Linux Distro.
Some other products that are referenced but had their name changed in is IBM's 5100 computer.
You know that computer that's referenced in Steins Gate? The IBM 5100.
This is the real deal shown below.
Now here's STEIN'S GATE's IBN equivalent shown below.... actually two screenshots:
The main difference between the IBN and the real-life IBM 5100 is that the IBN equivalent has that tiny screen at the center while the real-life IBM 5100 has the tiny screen at the left.

Maybe the developers of the VISUAL NOVEL were more inspired by ADAM OSBORNE than they were with IBM circa 1975.
And the 2019 Netflix movie remembers to do that with modern technology.
THE OWL HOUSE has a hilarious and memetic reference to Dragon Ball Z with Dragon Claw Z.
The Owl House's Dragon Ball Reference and the whole theaters quote might by referencing Lord Slug or COOLER's REVENGE.
Wait, where in the USA was Eda in back in 1991 or 1992? And did she see Dragon Claw Z at an AMC Megaplex theater or a Regal Cinema?
(Even though I live in Canada, any scene not set in the Boiling Isles in Owl House is set in Gravesville, Connecticut.)
Not every piece of cartoon or anime material is going to Forgo real-life products. There's this heartwarming one from THE DISSAPPEARANCE OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA where a Yuki Nagato uses a computer.
The PC in question is an NEC Powermate.
