Maverick Quickie-Draw like other artists or just stick to your own

I've been seeing this trend back in Early fall of 2020 where people draw themselves or their own characters but use different styles such as Disney, Looney Tunes, DOUG, Marvel, Anime, etc.

It's a rather interesting take since I actually did something similar to that as part of an assignment in college.

But after taking a look at my own work as well as closely analyze the drawings and the artist's origins, I can finally add my own two cents to this trend with a deeper analysis.

Let's start with this one featuring one of my favorite anime dub voice actors
Johnny Yong Bosch:

At least the caricatures are accurate to the art styles referenced but here's my two cents on the artist's take on the DISNEY caricature.

The reality is that Disney, especially during in the animated canon tends to switch art styles from film to film. And they've been doing that since the start of the Renaissance era.

From Mermaid to Aladdin, Disney maintained the art style from film to film until Pocahontas in 1995.

Then the company decided to experiment with other art styles during the tail-end of the renaissance era and the beginning of the experimental era. Hercules and Lilo & Stitch are prime examples due to influences from artist such as Gerald Scarfe and Chris Sanders.

So maybe the guy who send Bosch the art comparison drawing should have done his homework... or in the case head on over to DEJA VIEW, Andreas Deja's blog.

Then there's this one which has Sonic the Hedgehog in various other styles.

However, while the Hanna-Barbera, Smurfs, Loud House, Regular Show, Rocko, and Family Guy styles were nailed accurately, I don't think the person who did this nailed the look of Bullwinkle, Disney, or Looney Tunes Properly and can tell why.

I've already told you how I see Disney art from film to film, Disney Sonic looks more like he's from Mickey Mouse but the Bullwinkle one is not accurate.

This is how Rocky and Bullwinkle are supposed to look.... at least in 1959 standards.

As for Looney Tunes, WHY ARE FAN ARTISTS FOCUSING ONLY ON CHUCK JONES!?
The Looney Tunes Sonic above looks more like Wile Coyote which is Chuck Jones but when I think of Looney Tunes, I think more of Bob Clampett.
My guess is fans are aware of Clampett and Jones' rivalry but I wouldn't care about an animator's rivalry one bit. To me, an animator is just an animator with differing tastes and should keep his/her style of art personal.

Now how about this caricature sheet of Calvin Cordozar Broadus...
Better known as SNOOP DOGG.

Not sure how I feel about Snoop's design as if he appeared on Dragon Ball Z.... he looks like Beerus.

Bojack Horseman..... accurate to the dog portrayal but that show uses Puppet Rigs and Templates so.... not sure what I can say about that.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! TOTALLY LOVE PORTRAYING SNOOP DOGG AS SNOOPY!

Overall, the Family Guy, Tim Burton, Archer, Fairly OddParents, Adventure Time, and Rick & Morty caricatures are fairly accurate.

And last but not least, this which I found on LinkedIn.
Owl House, Gravity Falls, Simpsons, Big Mouth, and Scooby Doo is fairly accurate.

And just for the end of the blogpost, here's my take on it but with an actual setting

Anyway, it's called DELIA IS SURROUNDED BY HAYDEN'S.

The far right Hayden is my art style but the rest are Hayden's drawn in the style of Dragon Ball Z, Futurama, and DOUG.

As for the Art School Art Comparisons, I've got a link to my Illustrations page on my website:
