1988-The year DOUG flew from Virginia to Florida just to advertise Grapefruit Juice with the help of Garfield+A USA Bumper Treat

Before DOUG FUNNIE signed his contracts with both Nickelodeon and Disney,

But shortly after SIMON AND SCHUSTER rejected JIM JINKINS' and JOE AARON'S book pitch about DOUG needing new shoes

JIM JINKINS decided to take his kid to the Advertising space.

One of the very first Commercials to feature DOUG FUNNIE were in these Grapefruit Juice Grower Commercials which aired within the state of FLORIDA.

The commercial featured what looked like Digital Ink and Paint animation even with VHS Artifacts but I could be wrong and It could still be all Cel-Animated and the faux-digital look could be because of the Photography used......MMM PASTELS......

Oh, and the Commercial is narrated by GARFIELD!!!!

It's actually the late LORENZO MUSIC who voiced the cat in GARFIELD & FRIENDS.

Here's the 1988 Commercial in Full rather than me posting a bunch of screenshots.

Notice how DOUG has no eyebrows throughout most of the commercial?

Also, notice how Porkchop is nowhere to be found?

I'm guessing the Florida Grapefruit Juice Grower Company had a strict 

NO DOGS ALLOWED mandate so JIM could not use Porkchop in these commercials.

But instead, DOUG got toppled over by a whale.
