And it's there I saw the most shocking update I've read.
THE CHIBIVERSE crew will not be allowed to use DOUG in any capacity for the time being.
"Disney can't do what with me involving Chibi's?"
(Yes I used a screenshot from the 1993 Nick Halloween episode)
So what's preventing DOUG FUNNIE and his friends from being in the CHIBIVERSE?
Well apparently despite the fact that...
Disney still own the rights to DOUG since 1996
following VIACOM freezing JUMBO's Budget after the Paramount Acquisition in February 1994,
The Disney brass refuses to put the Green Sweater vested 12 year old on the CHIBIVERSE due to legal issues revolving around the character's NICKELODEON/MTV Origins.
To quote BEN SIEMON from his BLUE SKY on DOUG's CHIBIVERSE Rejection:
"He's in a very murky legal area due to Nickelodeon Origins. Hopefully someday."
??????
REALLY???
Come on DISNEY!!!
YOU OWN ALL RIGHTS TO DOUG(except for the first 52 episodes) media right down to the characters SINCE 1996!!!
That's why you used both DOUG & PORKCHOP in the 2022 CHIP & DALE movie without paying PARAMOUNT since the MOUSE owns the rights to the characters.
So what's stopping you?
Did the CHIBIVERSE artists prefer that they would use DOUG's Nicktoons Outfit instead of his BRAND SPANKING NEW! Outtfit in CHIBI FORM?
Maybe that's why DOUG has been rejected from the CHIBIVERSE.
That and BILLY WEST still hasn't forgiven MICHAEL EISNER and his legion of executives for garnishing his salary which led to the executives begrudgingly recasting DOUG FUNNIE with THOMAS *CHICAGO GANGSTER* LYONS.
Sorry I had to mention that.
I like both Nickelodeon and Disney's DOUG, but like you people, I still prefer BILLY WEST and I would have preferred if either Billy West accepted his cut pay or the executives gave into WEST's pay demands back in '96 but it's all in the past.
Hope things change in 2026 just in time for the 35th Anniversary of DOUG.
