When the news broke out back in late OCTOBER 2025 that due to a legal snafu regarding DOUG's Nickelodeon Origins as well as the very messy history surrounding VIACOM's infamous budget freeze of 1994, etc.,
That DOUG would not have a CAMEO or Appearance on CHIBIVERSE for the time being until the legal issues were taken care of,
I was both devastated and confused.....
The one thing that confused me was WHY does DOUG's NICK origins have to matter when he's already been DISNEY property since 1996?
My guess was because of issues relating to BEN SIEMON preferring DOUG's earlier NICK SERIES wardrobe where he had shorter sleeves, a more detailed sweater vest, and red shoes instead of the longer sleeves, less detailed collar on his vest, and grey shoes.... and SKYDANCE owns the visual copyright to that earlier outfit,
Or maybe because BEN really wants BILLY WEST to return as the Voice and not THOMAS LYONS.....
(I guess Ben prefers PHILIP J. FRY instead of FRANCIS MCREARY.)
Who knows what's holding up the legal snarl....
And no, DAVID ELLISON, The SKYDANCE Merger, or the impending acquisition of WARNER BROS. have nothing to do with all of this.
Until all those SNARLS have been taken care of, I'm just gonna share this Drawing I did of DOUG FUNNIE as a CHIBI Character.... or at least, my attempt at giving him his own CHIBI...
Yes Yes....I drew him in his NICK OUTFIT because NICK SERIES ELITISTS & BEN SIEMON....
More like I figured once the legal issues have been sorted out, the CHIBIVERSE production crew will fight with the MOUSE HOUSE to fiercely use DOUG's Nick outfit while designing the puppet rig in TOONBOOM.
Yes! CHIBIVERSE uses PUPPET RIGS but that's ok because the CHIBIS are so simplistic that they can get away with that Stiffness....
Unless it's made in JAPAN where they prohibit PUPPET RIGS in favor of drawing by HAND frame-by-frame on their WACOM CINTIQS.
And yes, unlike my Sticky note doodles, this was drawn on a full 8x11 Letter Sheet which I scanned into my Computer using my CANON PIXMA TS3720 Printer's Built-In Scanner because I can.
Technology is amazing but so are traditional tools.
