May 6 2024 was the anniversary of my PC Build which I call the Maverick Warhawk.... formally the Maverick Phoenix.
It's about time I make a much needed upgrade from my old hardware to update it a little.
Why?
Well for starters, It was just spur the moment last year. I originally set my eyes on an ASUS ROG STRIX G10 desktop at my local LONDON DRUGS but after hearing everything regarding ASUS' AM5 motherboard socket problems which led to gamers boycotting the company as well as the general belief that gamers would prefer to build their own machine, I just said to myself SCREW IT!!!! I'M GOING TO BUILD MY COMPUTER NO MATTER WHAT.
And so that's how it all happened.
And for a while, I was happy.
But now looking back, I realized my hastiness for a new computer made me have both some buyers regret as well as buyers wishes.
For starters, I went for AM4
when really, I should have went for AM5.
I think the issue was I was getting my essential components but I didn't choose carefully.
I mean sure, AMD was sure committed to keep making new AM4 CPUS a year after the launch of AM5 but for me, I should have started my first build with the AM5 platform.
But then again, I needed better hardware at least to my eyes and a better graphics card than the GTX 1050 chipset that was built in my laptop.
So that's why I have AM4 at the moment.
But after building my Church's Streaming PC, I realized it's time to make the change.
So I've settled on getting the same GIGABYTE AORUS motherboard that the church build used
as well as the same DDR5 Ram sticks I used for that build
but here are my changes that will differentiate from the church build.
For power supply, I'm probably going to go for a Corsair PSU that's 1000 watts or higher due to planning on upgrading to the 50 series GPUS by Holiday 2024 or early 2025 or so and considering I'd rather go for a HIGH-END GPU, I'll need to have a better Power Supply due to the higher wattage the 50 series RTX cards would probably demand.
Also, I feel I need to change my SSDs to higher capacity ones than the ones I have currently in my system. Preferably from SAMSUNG since it's a builder's preferred favorite as well as that I'm happy with the SAMSUNG SSD inside my current machine.
For now, I have a 512GB Silicon Power M.2 SSD for my boot drive and Windows 11 Pro operating system while I have a Samsung 980 M.2 SSD for my Data Drive.
I might keep the DeepCool CPU cooler or I might change to a Noctua or be quiet! Cooler. Who knows.
For sure, I'm going to keep the GIGABYTE EAGLE RTX 4080 for the time being...
until I make the upgrade to either a 5080 or 5090 card in the future. Again, that will necessitate the need for a higher wattage Corsair PSU.Oh the upgrades I'll be making in the future. I can hardly wait but regardless, I'll have to wait as I've just paid another fee to my Vet for Miso's treatment..... AGAIN!
But hey, at least this visit is not as costly as the last visit was.
Sorry for the filler but again, the culprit is my airport job, so many posts being in the backburner, my Cat's health issues, industry disgruntlement, student loans, and other personal issues.
Plus, I want to avoid doing too many Maverick Quickies so I need to pace myself a bit for the time being.
On a side note:
Moving into a new computer this rapidly doesn't seem so farfetched. For example, I remember rapidly moving from my COMPAQ PRESARIO 5477 to a VOBIS HIGHSCREEN SKY in less than a year after the turn of the millennium so I'm used to this abrupt change in hardware.
Also, I went through rapid changes with my previous IMAC G3 and Windows 2000 machine back in the mid-2000s as well so again, I'm used to this change.
