I finished my POPEYE ARABIAN TECHNICOLOR posts back in 2023 but I decided that in order to keep this blog more active after almost 7 months of working on my Military Medical Commercial for the VMG VETERAN MEDICAL GROUP in California, let's take a step back to the 1930s when POPEYE was still KING and helped us forget the badness that was the GREAT DEPRESSION.
This cartoon has everything that I could ask for in a POPEYE Cartoon.
FROM THE FLEISHER era that is.
Though the print I saw from that time was heavily compressed.
Here in this blog, A super high quality Print with no artifacts and no AI Upscaling is a must!!!
How does he start his business?
By proceeding to create a mess on the windows of a tall building.
He climbs up the building and has the gall to announce he's cleaning the windows.
ANd then the camera pans to the Office of OLIVE OYL
Bluto opens up the window to Olive's office, offering his services.
But Olive rebuffs the offer.
Bluto, Who's offscreen, is confused
Well Bluto, here's the reason:
I seriously love the way FLEISCHER's Animators animate the way OLIVE types on her Olivetti Typewriters....
"WINDOW CLEANER!"
But Olive rebuffs the offer.
"Uh, Not today, Thank you."
"*Bluto*
What do you mean NOT TODAY, THANK YOU!?"
Well Bluto, here's the reason:
"CAUSE I'M GONNA DO THEM!!!
That's why not today, thank you!"
Then Popeye does what he's promised to do.
So he demonstrates to Popeye that he can do things the more adrenaline, dangerous, and fun methods.
"Hey, You're about to knock somebody off!!!"
Popeye proceeds to bend himself to regain his footing on the windows.
Once again, Popeye is not impressed with Bluto with the way he did the window work."Ahh, That's Kindergarten stuff."
"Wait till you get a load of these suspenders!"
Bluto however is still not amused.
Looks like Popeye is pissed
Bluto eventually gets his ground at the other building but boy is he mighty pissed.
Of course, you can't have a Popeye Cartoon without an obligatory fight between Popeye & Bluto.
Popeye and Bluto eventually punch each other while climbing the building.
Of course, you can't have a Popeye Cartoon without an obligatory fight between Popeye & Bluto.
Not just because I don't want to spoil any surprises but the rest of the cartoon is filled with so many goodness such as the fight between Popeye and Bluto.
If you're thinking the cartoon is on PARAMOUNT+?
Don't think so lightly of this. Not with David Ellison in charge.
And besides, the Fleischer Popeye cartoons are all on the PUBLIC DOMAIN so a quick Google(or DUCKDUCKGO) Search to ARCHIVE.ORG is a must.
Let me know what other Popeye Cartoons you want me to provide overviews about.
I'll gladly oblige.
