At first, we all originally thought that the Bunny made his debut in 1989 but after multiple edits in the various wikis, it's revealed the Bunny actually made his debut on October 1988.
In the screenshot above, the bunny was making fun of Duracell but rather than the mockative tone used by Sega in their (in)famous GENESIS DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T campaign in the early 90s, Energizer went with a different approach.
It first starts off with what looks like one of those older 70s era Duracell Bunnies commercials
So what approach ENERGIZER used was that it's the BUNNY snidely showing off that he doesn't need to enter a BATTERY ENDURANCE CONTEST because he knows that he'll be cheating if he just keeps on GOING & GOING.
Wanna see what that Bunny was up to in 1988? Here's the embedded YOUTUBE Video:
And for all you Duke Nukem fans out there:
Yes, Apogee software had the gall to include the Energizer Bunny as a potential foe in an old EGA MS-DOS game.
How cool was that back in 1991?
I'll update this post when the time permits after getting all my resources.
