Happy 30th Anniversary JUMBO PICUTURES MOVING IN WITH THE MOUSE+Paramount finally buys Warner Bros.

On this day.......

ok ok.

So today is a regular year as it's the 28th of February as of this writing.

But in 1996, it was a leap year as evident as being the the year when Bill Clinton defeated Bob Dole and was re-elected as 42nd President of the United States.

On FEBRUARY 29 1996,

JUMBO PICTURES was fully acquired by WALT DISNEY COMPANY....

For better or worse..... depending on the circumstances....

Using this 1993 screengrab of Mr. Shellacky the guidance councilor because....
EVERY KID DREADS THIS MAN!!!!
Regardless if he's in Bluffington Elementary or Beebe Bluff Junior High.....

How did this happen?

Like I said in many earlier posts, it was all VIACOM's fault!

If they hadn't frozen the budget for JUMBO back in 1994, then they wouldn't have lost the respect from JIM JINKINS, DAVID CAMPBELL, JOE AARON, etc.

JIM JINKINS fighting with SUMNER REDSTONE over the decision to
Freeze JUMBO's budget back in 1994.
All while DOUG watches from the sidelines.

But VIACOM danced with REPTAR, tripped, and chose to freeze the budget for DOUG all while keeping REN & STIMPY on the air up until late 1995.

REPTAR can pissed off at VIACOM for what they did for all I care...

But I'm sure MICKEY MOUSE was thrilled.....

If only Mickey didn't crack JUMBO's egg and replaced it with a LAUGHING SLICE OF PIZZA after a falling out with both DIC & NICK BACKAY.

"I never had a fight with either DISNEY OR VIACOM...
But I'm still wary about what SKYDANCE is doing with WARNER BROS....."

Man, I really feel bad for REPTAR when he found out about VIACOM freezing JUMBO's budget as well as RUGRATS being put on hiatus from 1994 to 1997.

Here's his reaction to VIACOM's Difficult Decision on the budget circa February 1994:

That's a lovely way to RAGE against your parent company ain't it Reptar.

Now do that again but this time against DAVID ELLISON and his SKYDANCE Company.

Doubly so since I heard recently that NETFLIX had just backed away from a counter deal to acquire WARNER BROS.... so therefore, the RED "N" has conceded defeat.

And Netflix's counter deal deal definitely wasn't a jillion dollars
unlike what this FUTURAMA screengrab insinuates.

Who knows what the future will hold for use but I guess PARAMOUNT owning WB has now happened.....

Wasn't expecting that but hey, DISNEY also owns FOX so what are we gonna do?

.....

I can hear JOSH D'AMARO saying to David Ellison "THAT MAKES TWO OF US!"
