On July 31 2025, I had just came back from an interview session with Canadian TV Writer ALLAN HAWCO as per part of my participation with this Documentary Series called THE ASSEMBLY.
And yes I'm getting paid to interview select writers or actors.
The day after this post was made, I met HOWIE MANDEL in person.
But now let's get back into topic which is to indulge in more DOUG Movie/TV Shoutouts:
DOUG's LOST WEEKEND-A galactic game that doesn't require a 386 PC+ A Nintendo reference of my own.
Back in the early 90's, Wing Commander was a very popular game for many a 90s Gamer back in the day so it only made sense for JUMBO PICTURES to reference a very popular game in an episode of DOUG.
And DOUG didn't even need a 386 PC in order to play WING COMMANDER'S parody SPACEMUNKS.
(He didn't get his first computer until the 300mhz Celeron-based Power Portal PC 2000 during the Disney Era.)
DOUG got his copy of SPACEMUNKS just by getting a free SUPER PRETENDO system as a door prize just because he was shopping for video games.
Too bad the game interfered with his homework and probably cut his grades by two-fold.
By 1996, he's since moved on to playing Fighting Games like
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS' HORROR KOMBAT.
Available only for NONTENDU ULTRA-32.
Yes, he's since got a new console by 1996 which explains why the console looks different as well as now using Microsoft Sidewinder Joysticks instead of something that looked like a phaser pistol.
Why the name NONTENDU ULTRA-32?
Because it's a reference to the Nintendo 64 and the fact that in 1996, it was the era of 32-Bit Consoles.
(And Despite Nintendo's N64 console actually being a true 64-bit console thanks to it's 93.75MHz NEC R4300 CPU, many games only ran 32-Bit Instructions.)
DOUG's NEW SCHOOL(And beyond)-Who hired these podcasters as shop teachers?
Around the beginning of the DISNEY SERIES, Doug got new teachers when he started Middle School.
Amongst his instructors are his two Shop Teachers with identical designs which makes sense since they're twins.
They go by Homer Heaver and Rhode Heaver.
Homer is the one on the left while Rhode is the one on the right.
Homer is the softer sounding brother who teaches WOODSHOP and is a fan of anything Woodgrain.
Sounds like Clint Basinger, aka LGR's, thing.
Homer's brother Rhode on the other hand is all about the REAL AMERICAN STEEL.
The two always fight over which is superior:
WOOD OR STEEL.
According to the Disney Series Production Bible, the Heaver Twins are based on the Magliozzi Brothers: Tom and Ray of CAR TALK fame.
Unfortunately, TOM MAGLIOZZI passed away back in 2014
but fortunately, as of this writing, his younger brother RAY MAGLIOZZI is still alive and kicking ass.
Just don't mention TESLA to RAY MAGLIOZZI..... He doesn't like the guy who runs that company regardless of any feud with a certain President as of recently.
NIGHTMARE ON JUMBO STREET-Look who the abnormal mimicked?
Well, look who's back!!!
The Abnormal.... who is mimicking Porkchop....
He stood in for Porkchop when the latter was left standing out on the Cold Richmond weather and got sick back in November 2024 when I did the FOUR FINGERS Post.
Why is MR. ABNORMAL HERE?
Well because he's an expert at imitating JACK NICHOLSON.
DOUG'S MOVIE MADNESS-Sorry Harry but your son Roger's right, King Camario is lame.
JOEYCOOKAMONGA!!!
TV Tropes wasn't kidding when they said HARRY KLOTZ's clown jokes were horrendous despite the writers of that TV TROPES Article being impressed with his Patriarchal Instincts and refusing to let Roger watch TARGETMAN.
There's this bit that feels like a misfire joke where HARRY acts like STANLY IPKISS.
The joke falls flat because both ROGER AND his father HARRY are GREEN!!!
Sorry Harry but your JIM CARREY joke is lame!!!
So for punishment,
I DEMAND YOU GIVE BACK ROGER HIS COVETTED PLASTIC COW!!!
Ok so my Cow joke backfired but hey,
Jay Sherman's father FRANKLIN from THE CRITIC does a much better Stanley Ipkiss better than Harry Klotz.
THE BIG SWITCH-Leave it to ROGER!!!
We've all got mixed feelings about Roger becoming Rich due Bill Bluff buying the land off of both FAT JACK and his Roger's mother EDWINA KLOTZ.
Some of us disliked Roger becoming rich because it's what we feared since 1992's DOUG'S LUCKY HAT: him becoming a straight up narcissist.
Even Beebe Bluff is against the idea of Roger becoming rich if her screams,
And later, her fights with ROGER..
And the writers knew about it going as far back to the beginning of the Disney Series where they wrote parts of the episode THE BIG SWITCH where Roger now regrets being rich because He now has to put up with SHAREHOLDERS who are proving to be a mental pain for him.
Desperate for a moderately financed life just to get away from stupid shareholders but without going back to the Trailer Park, Roger decides to trade places with Chalky Studebaker and he imagines himself as Chalky's replacement,
He imagines himself as the titular character of the classic 1950s sitcom
LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.
And get this, the blasted imagination spot even has a stupid LAUGH TRACK just to get the point across.
Too bad for Roger he ended up having to do a lot of Lawn Work instead of napping on a late 1950s Armchair but hey, he got what asked for!!!
Indeed.
And he deserved that karma until Lamar Bone returned.
THROUGHTOUT MOST OF DOUG ON BOTH NETWORKS-THE BEETS
One thing that made DOUG Famous for Nickelodeon Fans was the shoutout to the music industry which makes sense since Nickelodeon is an MTV Affiliate owned by Viacom, now PARAMOUNTGLOBAL(Which is now owned by SKYDANCE.)
But rather than reference a late 80s band, Jim Jinkins decided to reference THE BEETLES due to the fact that he grew up with them in the 60s.
THE BEETS are famous for such songs such as KILLER TOFU which plays whenever THE BEETS show up on screen.
Others include I NEED MO' ALLOWANCE!!!.
etc.
Fans of the BEETS are often referred to as THE BEETNIKS.
To the dismay of DOUG, The BEETNIKS, and to many older DOUG FANS, Jim Jinkins decided to reference the infamous breakup of THE BEETLES in 1996.
Kids were MIGHTY PISSED at JIM JINKINS for telling his writers to do that because not only was it effectively erasing a musical legacy but it also reminded many a kid of how PISSED their parents got when THE BEETLES broke up in real-life and the last thing them kids ever wanted was that painful reminder of the breakup being lampooned in a cartoon.
I'm scared about when the HULU revival may have no choice but to reference JOHN LENNON's infamous murder by killing off MONROE YOEDER, and to a lesser extend, killing off WENDY NESPAH just because she's a reference to the late SINEAD O' CONNOR.
Nothing a self-referral writing can do to undo the travesty of the break up between both bands so I'll end this category with this:
The BEETS and their fans BEATING THE SHIT out of any writer who'd dare want to reference the Infamous Lennon murder of 1980 in the HULU REVIVAL.
DOUG'S CONCERT CRISIS-The Plastic Judy Band.... Sound Familiar, Lawyers?
Funny how despite the infamous Breakup of THE BEETS, the band member's bickering was not caused by one of the Band Members dating an Avant-Garde Artist like what happened with JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO.
That didn't happen until 1998 when FLOUNDER, the only American member of THE BEETS, started dating DOUG's 17 year old sister JUDY FUNNIE.
And what do the duo name their band?
THE PLASTIC JUDY BAND!!!
Uh Oh, sounds like a Lawsuit is coming....
nah just kidding.
The episode was broadcast back in 1998 so it's too late for APPLE RECORDS to file a lawsuit.
DOUG'S LAST BIRTHDAY-Tommy Pickles, Eat your heart out....
We all know DOUG premiered alongside Ren & Stimpy & The RUGRATS on that Fateful August 11 1991.
However, Douglas Yancy Funnie has never really gotten along very well with Thomas Malcolm Pickles.
And their animosity escalated beyond their control when on June 23 1992, DOUG got nominated for a DAYTIME EMMY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING but lost to THE RUGRATS.
After leaving Nickelodeon for Disney back in 1996, following VIACOM's infamous Budget Freeze of 1994, DOUG decided to get back at TOMMY PICKLES in the DISNEY SERIES Premiere because he's still mad at him for stealing his EMMY AWARD back in June 1992.
Though his efforts was just using an old photo dated 1984 from when DOUG was a baby.
This shoutout was more or less a DOUBLE WAMMY because it's referencing not only THE RUGRATS but also the original Network DOUG premiered at that same year which was 1991.
And yes, DOUG did actually lose his Emmy Award to Tommy Pickles in 1992, otherwise, the writers would not be getting away with this joke in 1997 when he's asked by an 8th Grader if he's ever won an EMMY.
DOUG GROWS UP-Jumbo Pictures Cameo on DOUG's TV set
In-between the Nick Series finale and the Disney Series premiere, Jim Jinkins partnered with ESPN to create his one and only ADULT CARTOON dedicated to sports related shenanigans:
Unfortunately, Network Politics, as well as Disney repeatedly contacting Viacom about DOUG in the wake of the Paramount acquisition and subsequent Budget Freeze interfered with the planned airing of HOYT N' ANDY'S SPORTSBENDER.
A year later after a Network Kerfuffle which lead to Disney buying ESPEN, alongside ABC, as well as Jumbo Pictures on February 1996, there was a ray of hope that the show could still make it, to a point that the third episode of the Disney Series DOUG GROWS UP decided to feature a cameo of the titular characters from HOYT N' ANDY as a show that DOUG tries to watch that is considered ADULT for him.
Albeit, drawn in the DOUG ART STYLE instead of the show's actual art style.
However, due to the Disney Series' Mixed Reception, as well as fierce competition with THE SIMPSONS, DUCKMAN, AND BEAVIS, HOYT N' ANDY never aired in the United States until many years later when it was brought to the TUBI Service.
I'm sure it's been long since removed and replaced with Tubi's own THE FREAK BROTHERS.

DOUG'S BIG COMEBACK & DOUG LTD.-Two Comedy Legends equals One Insult Career gone awry
Two comedians got referenced on these bonanzas of episodes...
The first that's mentioned in DOUG LTD. is DAVID LETTERMAN
Famous for his Talk show: THE LATE SHOW
Here, DOUG is dressed as LETTERMAN who is interviewing MONROE YOEDER of the BEETS on how they're going to pull off the greatest of their BREAKUP FAREWELL Concert.
While also asking if it's possible to provide free tickets to the Venue.
Later in DOUG's BIG COMEBACK, Doug's Neighbor BUD DINK decides to give him a SUPER8 Film reel featuring Bluffington's greatest insult comic RICK NICKLES.
Blue Skin aside, Rick Nickles is a parody of insult Comedian DON RICKLES,
Famous for his insult comedy,
as well as being the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the TOY STORY films.
Sadly though, DON RICKLES passed away on April 6 2017 due to kidney Failure at the age of 90...
though DAVID LETTERMAN is still alive and kicking as of this writing though he's no longer doing the LATE SHOW as he retired from that and passed the torch over to JAMES CORDEN in 2015.

Now, who does DANIEL DRUVOT remind you of?
Yes Druvot..., thank you.
DANIEL DRUVOT is a parody of the late SEAN CONNERY.
I promised not to mention SMASH ADAMS back in June 2025 but alas, I broke my own rule.
DRUVOT is the residential actor who plays a Secret Agent and speaks with a Pseudo-Scottish/Irish Flair to his vocal accent.
He's been in DOUG since the Nickelodeon Series but wasn't given a name until the Disney Series.
When he was replaced with a different actor, DRUVOT was pissed because SMASH ADAMS was the only character that mattered to him.
This resulted in him looking for work elsewhere, even if it meant going on Strike Against ROGER KLOTZ for not paying him for his performance.
Fortunately, he found work, Starting with CUEBALL.
Unlike Connery who was naturally bald, Druvot wore a Bald Cap for his role.
Later on, he helped former BEETS Drummer CHAP LIPMAN find work and the two worked together in a new film called SLAG & FELPY,

Did JUMBO Pictures even realize that they may have been lampooning TROY MCCLURE from THE SIMPSONS?
Smash Adam’s replacement actor, if he even has a name, is a reference to how James Bond has different actors and Doug’s negative reaction to the change references how real-life 007 fans react to actor changes.
DOUGAPALOOZA-The Nerds' unsanctioned reference to a popular MTV Band+Connie's shoutout to a BLUES Icon
CONNIE unwittingly insults BRIAN THE AV NERD for wearing his retainer by singing her song RETAINER BLUES, a parody of JANIS JOPLIN'S music.
Lincoln calls out Connie for doing that.
Lincoln, here, ironically, shares the same voice as DOUG FUNNIE's replacement voice:
THOMAS LYONS.

When Connie refuses to take responsibility for Brian's hurt feelings,
The AV NERDs, sans LARRY who left to work for the School Newspaper, decide to get their revenge on Connie.
By dressing up as DEVO and sing.
Surprisingly, they prove to be a hit with their song WE’RE NERDS.
Fortunately, ROGER was there to intervene and Save Connie's Musical career.
Network Migration Aside,
DEVO is a good fit for DOUG because, again, This is referencing MTV, a network which also handled Nickelodeon back in the 90s... if the closing logos from 1991 to 1993 were any indication.
DOUG's GARAGE BAND-Jim Jinkins' favorite Pop Singer as cosplayed by Beebe Bluff
I was surprised to learn that DOUG creator JIM JINKINS is a fan of 90s Pop Singer MADONNA.
In the song BANGING ON A TRASH CAN, Beebe can be seen at one point dressed like MADONNA when walking down a flight of stairs.
Later in the Disney era, Beebe was given a super heroine persona MATERIAL GIRL.
Yes, that’s a MADONNA reference. The Heroine name is referring to a 1985 song.
Only person who’s mad is KRUSTY here.
And last but not least,
The name ALAN SMITHEE joke here was to poke fun at a pseudonym used by directors who want no part of a movie credit due to issues revolving around what happened with said production.

Here's it's for a series of takes where DOUG is trying to prevent Patti from going to the premiere of SLAG AND FELPY with GUY GRAHAM.
The joke was still relevant at the time since the episode was from 1997.
BURN HOLLYWOOD BURN was SO BAD,
that it permanently damaged the ALAN SMITHEE name for good.
Nowadays, disgruntled artists have to use their own made-up pseudonym for any future "I WANT TO REMOVE MY NAME OFF THIS CRAP" requests.
Like POUND FOOLISH for JON VITTI.
One episode I did not want to include in this series of Movie/TV Shoutouts was DOUG GETS BOOKED because that episode already reference ENGLISH LITERATURE and the mere thought of using that episode would make my list of references too long.
So instead, I'll save that episode for it's own Blogpost where I'll talk about all the ENGLISH LITERATURE that gets referenced.
I don't know when I'll do the post but I'll get to it eventually.
I think I may have exhausted my choices for MOVIE SHOUTOUTS but I'll keep an eye out for any more shoutouts for a possible Fourth Installment in September.... if my schedule isn't hampering my blogposts.

The Maverick Falcon 7900RT custom-built PC started acting up again with stability problems after an image file SD Card transfer to my Dell Inspiron AMD RYZEN 7 Laptop which I use for my BLOG.
I've just recently updated the Falcon's GIGABYTE AORUS ELITE AX V2 Motherboard BIOS to the latest AGESA Firmware.
I wasn't susposed to update it this early until I bought my Ryzen 9 9950X3D
but Stability is a must.... until i get the CPU and new RAM Modules.
I think there may be a problem with my CORSAIR VENGEANCE RAM modules
On August 9 2025, I went to the CANADA COMPUTETERS store in BROADWAY & BURRARD and bought a similar set of CORSAIR VENGEANCE Sticks but rather they're CL36 Sticks with RGB lights.
And unlike my old NON-RGB Corsair sticks, I turned on AMD EXPO in my BIOS so I can used the full 6000MTS speed as advertised.
Granted, it was after both procrastination & updating my motherboard's bios version to F34.
