Maverick Quickie-Goodbye MSI Monitor

Today, I made a heartfelt goodbye to the MSI OPTIX G2712 Monitor I was using with my PC from Early August 2023 to January 25 2024.

I went to my local Recycle Depot and disposed of the old MSI monitor there.

For those who haven't followed along, My MSI monitor crapped out due to bad capacitors on the mainboard.

While the monitor still works, I get these Horizontal Pixels on the bottom of the IPS panel.

I was about to fix it myself but I don't have a soldering iron and it wasn't worth repairing anyway due to the the panel getting scratched during it's time in storage so I just e-cycled the damn thing.

Whatever though. I have a 1440p ASUS TUF VG27AQ Monitor which I had since February 9th 2024 so I'm fine with that.

It may have cost $359+tax which was more than my MSI which set me back $279 but hey, you pay for that kind of quality of monitor, you've earned it....

Compared to the $800+ I'd be paying for a 4K or Ultrawide Monitor.

Let's hope my ASUS monitor lasts as long as my ACER monitor has.

Update as of August 3 2024:

It's been 5 to 6 months since I purchased my ASUS TUF VG27AQ monitor from Best Buy at Downtown Vancouver.

And so far, the monitor hasn't been showing any lines on the bottom.

I guess the MSI Monitor I had by this point had a manufacturing defect that wasn't caught.

But whatever, my monitor is still better than ASUS' motherboard and price problems.

Yes I'm aware of a certain Hardware reviewer's fight with the company.
