Maverick Quickie-A Cameo from 8 years ago led to a promise....

After my 45% rant laden post previously, I'm all wiped out. I need a breather so how about another MAVERICK QUICKIE?

Was browsing through my External Hard Drives because I'm still in the process of organizing my stuff after my infamous May 2022 Accidental Data Deletion and later subsequent Data Recovery.

Anyway, was browsing and I came across this.

This was from a 2016 episode of THE SIMPSONS from 8 years ago as of this post. By this point, FUTURAMA had ended it's run 3 years ago from the airing of this SIMPSONS Episode.

But ever a fervent fan would always at the time whine about the cancelation of a good series and MATT GROENING heard us all. 

The segment from this episode was called HOMER LIVE. It was a bit part where Homer, as animated by a live animation rig, would answer questions from people of different timezones. From what I remember, it was split between the EAST and WEST coast.

The EAST Coast feed happened first due to a 5 Hour difference but I preferred the WEST COAST Feed because it had a bit where Homer endorsed Bernie Sanders. You had to understand that the infamous 2016 elections were taking place back then too.

Regardless of feeds however, There was some premade animations that were used to pad out the distance shots from Homer. My personal favorite of the Padding was the image of Bender demanding that FUTURAMA come back.

Never thought that it would become a reality 7 years later. It actually was announced in 2022 but didn't air on HULU of all networks until 2023.

Yeah, FUTURAMA can't seem to catch a break due to network apathy despite a wonderfully committed fanbase. 

But hey, at least one of my favorite Sci-Fi animated shows survived the mishandlings of FOX, ADULT SWIM, COMEDY CENTRAL.

It also survived the JOHN DIMAGGIO salary disputes, WGA, and SAG-AFTRA strikes too so that's a plus.

To quote one of the opening captions:

THE HUMANS SHALL NOT DEFEAT US!!!

Now that's dedication of protection.

For those where to watch FUTURAMA, the entirety of the series is on HULU via the Disney+ service.... for USA viewers.

I live in Canada so while I still watch it on Disney+, it's on the STAR service.

Still, it's better to watch it on a service that's not effed up by a streaming service's apathy for a country or BELLMEDIA's monopoly on Warner Discovery Content on CRAVE....

or Asshole executives who only care about the money.....

Whoops... there I go into TERMINATOR MODE again..... I really do need to control my contempt but it's so damn hard especially with all the drama around Hollywood that I'm reading left and right.

Anyhow, I'm seeing mixed comments on the writing for the 2023 seasons of Futurama.

What's up with that? You asked for it to come back and both Matt Groening and David X Cohen obliged.

Let's hope things improve with the 2024 episodes.... whenever they start appearing on Hulu.
