Alongside a brevy of changes introduced in DISNEY's DOUG that elicited mixed reactions from the older Nickelodeon Audiences,
(And JIM JINKINS admitted the changes were his own doing, not Eisner's)
((The transfer from NICKELODEON to DISNEY also happened because the fellas at VIACOM were being JERKASSES for Freezing JUMBO PICTURE's Budget.))
there came a new running gag which revolves around BEEBE BLUFF.
Starting with DOUG's LAST BIRTHDAY, broadcast September 7 1996,
BEEBE started to develop a split personality where she acts like she's supportive but mentally, she wants to scream her brains out over something she’s against.
First time that happened was her general reaction to Roger becoming rich and having purchased a mansion next door.
Okay, DOUG Avermedia screenshots OVER!!!
What comparison is this?
Well I'm sure MASASHI KISHIMOTO has not seen a DOUG episode broadcast in Japan in the 90s so this might just be coincidence but,
When I saw BEEBE act like this, it gave me SAKURA HARUNO vibes.
You know how SAKURA acts reserved just for SASUKE but internally, she wants to have some more daring adventures.
An example was her outside protest of Naruto's Chalk Brush Prank on Kakashi but mentally, she's encouraging Naruto to do it.
Considering that happened 3 years after the BRAND SPANKING NEW DOUG aired on ABC in 1996, COINCIDENCE!!!???
Why I did say 3 years?
Because NARUTO began it's run in 1999 in MANGA form.
The anime didn't start until 2002 so I have to stick to the Manga release for reference.
And don't mention DOUG or Beebe Bluff to either
CHIE NAKAMURA
or
KATE HIGGINS.
For the love of NEMATODES..... Please Don't.
What I will say is that I do have ways to watch NARUTO and that's through either CRUNCHYROLL or NETFLIX.
With the latter being my NARUTO streaming fix.
Only time will tell when Disney+ negotiates the Canadian rights to have Naruto on the Canadian version of HULU.
I'm sure the Americans already have access through their already existing HULU accounts.
But until then, NETFLIX is my current fix for both the original & SHIPPUDEN.
