Maverick Update 7/30/2025-Lost Celebrities, Interview Job, CPU Stability Problems Strike back, & Tsunami Warning

Hi everybody.

For this installment of MAVERICK UPDATE, here's what's the gist of things.

First off,

The week of July 21 to 25, was a pretty depressing one for my friends.

If you haven't heard or read the news, we lost 3 Celebrities.

First, we lost OZZY OSBOURNE due to his Parkinson's Disease, though he did make true to his word on performing his very last SHOW with a wonderous fanfare.

Then, on July 24,

We lost HULK HOGAN due to a MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION(Heart Attack).

Then, on that same day, we lost CHUCK MANGIONE of Natural Causes.

Pretty rough week.....

Anyway, moving on to the positives.

Next, I have 2 Interviews.

I haven't mention this but I am employed with this DOCUMENTARY SERIES called THE ASSEMBLY.

It's where we're taped and we interview select Actors or Writers who dealt with struggles in their childhood before making it big in HOLLYWOOD.

The previous May, I had my interview with a young Canadian Actress MAITREYI RAMAKRISHNAN who first made it big in her NETFLIX series NEVER HAVE I EVER.

You many also know MAITREYI as the voice of PRIYA MANGAL in the 2022 PIXAR film TURNING RED, a film that's still to this day CONTROVERSIAL to us viewers due to the art style, the director DOMEE SHI, and the thinly veiled references to PEROIDS.

Though I was turned off by the fact that she was trained by THE OFFICE writer MINDY KALING because as a SCOOBY-DOO fan, I never forgiven KALING for massacring the MYSTERY INC. GANG in the GODAWFUL VELMA Series.

Anyway, What really surprised me was that MAITREYI herself was at one point considering a career in ANIMATION but she changed gears and instead went into acting.

Turns out she wanted to do animation and I asked her that but she said she didn't have the patience to do said animations.

I don't know if that implies she doesn't have the patience to focus while drawing, moving the rigs of the characters, or waiting for the computer to finish rendering her scene.... but I did humor her by referencing a bit about Animation Patience from the late RICHARD WILLIAMS.

Anyway, my next Interview is coming tomorrow on THURSDAY July 31st where I'll be interviewing Writer ALLAN HAWCO.

And two days later, I'll be interviewing HOWIE MANDEL, which I'm more excited about.

Both interviews will take place at the BCIT Aerospace Campus at the Sea Islands in Richmond, BC.

Oh I'm so excited.

Getting back into the topic about the depressing Penultimate July week,

My main Custom Built Computer MAVERICK FALCON 7900RT is having some problems with stability again.

No it's not an issue with the OS but rather my recklessness with file transfers through SD Cards and my LEXAR Reader.

Right now, It's been left inert for a good week and I've looked into it and rather than reinstalling WINDOWS 11 Pro and risk losing my data on my 3 SSDs, I'm going to perform a BIOS Update to my GIGABYTE AORUS MOTHERBOARD.

I wasn't planning on doing it that early until I bought my RYZEN 9 9950X3D CPU and replacement 240MM AIO Cooler from CORSAIR but........

STABILITY is a must since I'm still working on my ARMY MEDICAL COMMERCIAL for a client in LOS ANGELES and the PC with it's Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU

(which is where the 7900RT name comes from),

and my RTX 4080,

Is my only system I can really use for CG Animation on MAYA since 12 cores and a Dedicated Graphics Card is a must for Animation Intensive tasks.

Some of you may be asking,

"HOW AM I MAKING THIS UPDATE IF MY PC IS OUT OF COMMISION?"

I'm using my DELL INSPIRON 2-IN-1 RYZEN 7 LAPTOP for this since it's a recent purchase and I needed some leeway away from my Desktop when I'm typing.

And to end this update on a happier note, if it counts as Happy,

I'm alright......Why? Is it mental health related?

No.....

I'm alright because we just had a TSUNAMI WARNING that was recently canceled for most of the BC area where I live in.

Yeah, it turns out there was an Earthquake that happened somewhere in the Coastal areas in Russia that shook that area and now, we're on the lookout for when the shockwaves would create a TSUNAMI for the BC, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, and California Regions.

So far, I checked and the shockwaves have thankfully subsided.

The last thing any of my readers would want to hear is me getting affected by Natural Disaster Phenomena and ranting about how you'd want to control the weather even though it's impossible.

No LILO... Pudge does not control the weather. Just be grateful that you, Stitch, and your friends were able to get off scot-free from the Tsunami Warning.

Sorry about the RANTING PERSON thing but my generation has this habit on getting into a tirade about wanting everything in landmass to be PERFECT and to not be affected by disastrous weather if damages from the Texas Blizzard of February 2021 and Hurricane Helene in September 2024 were of any indication for my favorite TECH People on YOUTUBE.

Anyway, that's all I'm gonna say.

Let's hope AUGUST turns out better for all of us compared to all the madness we witnessed.

Happy 40th Anniversary THE BLACK CAULDRON(The movie that would have saved Disney, almost killed the company, and inspired a Renaissance)

Yikes. Is it already 40 Years since this film was released?

Ladies and Gentleman,

This is Disney's 1985 film THE BLACK CAULDRON
A loose adaptation of the first two books of LLOYD ALEXANDER'S THE CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN series.

If you're too young to remember,

Or you're old enough but simply forgot this film existed in the first place,

Disney's 25th Animated film is famous and infamous for several things.

It's infamous for ALMOST KILLING DISNEY'S ANIMATION DEPARTMENT just because of Studio Politics, obsession with making Animation Kid-Friendly, and Ousting Ron Miller and replacing him with Michael Eisner, Jeffery Katzenberg, and Frank Wells.

And for going up against the GODDAMN CARE BEARS in the BOX OFFICE to which the studio brass called their fight against Nelvana as the PROVERBIAL ROCK BOTTOM.
SCREW YOU CARE BEARS!!!! YOU'RE NOT WELCOME HERE!!!
ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU RUINED NELVANA'S ROCK AND RULE
FOR EVERYBODY BACK IN 1983!!!

Right on LOU PICKLES!!!

Nobody likes THE CARE BEARS, except for saccharine Parents, Babies,.....

I commend your choice of words.

Despite the negative press,
BLACK CAULDRON is still famous for being a Wakeup call for DISNEY on making sure not to TRY TOO HARD with these adaptations.

Concurrently at the same time during production, Disney had another film that they could fall back to in the event of CAULDRON'S failure...
But for now until next year when we PROPERLY celebrate MOUSE DETECTIVE's 40th Anniversary, this year, we will focus on THE BLACK CAULDRON.

This film took almost 4 YEARS to make but that's nothing when compared to the Production time that it took for SLEEPING BEAUTY(1959) which was a good chunk of the 1950s.

This film was pretty much a migration period for the Animation studio where the old guard was completely dropped in favor of the newer animators who took the reigns here.

Amongst them being Andreas Deja for example.

As for release, did you know that BLACK CAULDRON was susposed to be released on December 1984?

NO?

Well the reason it wasn't a 1984 release was because the film was screened at one point during a test screening and due to reactions from kids at the time and also due to a change of guard after the ousting of RON MILLER,

Jeffery Katzenberg wanted to edit the film so that it's more Child Friendly and avoid a potential R-Rating.

Ironically but also miraculously, depending on your point of view, Michael Eisner stepped in and had a spat with Katzenberg about final editorials.
"Word of advice, if the film is complete, DON'T EDIT THE CRAP OUT OF IT!!!"

This film was also the first to introduce Disney's newest technique for Ink and Paint called

THE ANIMATION PHOTO TRANSFER Process.

I forgot to mention this on my two Xerox posts and my CAPS post but this technique was somewhat short-lived and patented only for Disney so I didn't mention it.

The technique was an extension of the Xerography method where the drawings were photographed on HIGH-CONTRAST LITHO FILM and the resulting photo negative would be transferred on to acetate cel sheets that would transfer the lines and colors, therefore eliminating the laborious hand-inking method.

But starting with THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER in 1990,
The computer would make India Ink Hand-Inking, Lithograph Plate Xerography, and the Animation Photo Transfer Process,

ALL OBSOLETE

In favor of Photo Scanners, Wacom Tablets, proprietary paint software, CGI Software from Alias, editing software from AVID, and UNIX Machines from SGI, Sun Microsystems, & DEC.

Speaking about CGI, BLACK CAULDRON is one of the very first films to use CGI on screen in a 2D Animated film.

.....

Yeah Yeah. CGI on 2D Animation.
A Controversial Marriage, especially amongst Richard Williams or Ollie Johnston DRAWING IN 24FPS PERSPECTIVE Purists.

But I still call this a major achievement,

even if the CGI in CAULDRON is limited to Image Manipulation, Optical image replacements such as explosions, Eylonwy's Light Orb, and the smoke coming out of the Cauldron near the end of the movie.
Though I read that the mist was actually optical photography of
Dry Ice.

The irony is that BLACK CAULDRON was the second in production order to use CGI when MOUSE DETECTIVE was the first to use it but that film wouldn't release until July 2nd 1986.

As you can see in the image above, Black Cauldron marked the return of
ULTRAWIDE for a Disney Animated flick since SLEEPING BEAUTY.

Though after Cauldon's bombing in the BOX OFFICE, the company wisely decided against the lenses in favor of 1.85:1 until the release of ATLANTIS in 2001 but that will have to wait for a blog post on 2026 to commemorate that film's 25th Anniversary.

I felt compelled to make this post, not because it's the film's 40th Anniversary but earlier this year on JANUARY 29 2025, we lost JOE HALE, producer of THE BLACK CAULRDON.

If you want to watch the film in 4K, Disney+ has it, and as a matter of fact, it's the only way to watch in in 4K due to the MOUSE HOUSE's past apathy for the film.

The most recent release for the film on Physical Media is a 1080p HD Blu-ray but that's only for those who are in the MOVIE REWARDS PROGRAM....

At least it's a much better offer than what the Mouse House did with their release of DOUG's 1ST MOVIE on DVD back in 2012.

In 2019 when the service launched, the film was added, Black Cauldron was given the 4K Treatment. Something that wouldn't be given to it's successor MOUSE DETECTIVE & Oliver,

Though Mermaid was given it's 4K Treatment.

And yes, I did watch THE BLACK CAULDRON on the DISNEY+ service the same year it launched..... which I did sign up for when that serviced launched on November 12 2019.

Anyway, hope you're doing what you can to celebrate BLACK CAULDRON'S 40th anniversary in spite of the fights the film had during production and after.

So what are you waiting for, sit back on your LA-Z Boy Recliners or Couches, grab a bag of Canadian-produced LAYS Potato Chips, fire up your PS5s, XBOXs, Roku's or whatever you use for streaming or Blu-Ray, or DVD, and enjoy your 40th Anniversary screenings with device.

(Headphones or Soundbars recommended.)

The rise of "Anti-Rig Change" sentiment in CGI Animation+How Toy Story reminded us about cautionary measures on RIG preservation+Susman's amazing remote rescue

I’ve noticed a very disturbing phenomenon in the animation space recently when it regards CGI and that’s people complaining about the change of the CG rigs used for animated films when there’s a large gap between the original, the sequel, & Vice-Versa.

And it all solidified when we were shown images and a teaser for Shrek 5 earlier in February 27 2025 where people complained and ranted about how Shrek himself looks different compared to how he last looked in Shrek Forever After back in 2010.
The left is original SGI IRIX Shrek (Later HP Opteron)
and the right is the modern Lenovo Threadripper Shrek.

It got to a point that animation fans demanded that DreamWorks go back to the original rigs used for the films….
"I don't care whether you switched to Lenovo Threadrippers KATZENBERG,
I WANT MY OLD SHREK BACK GAWD-DAMMIT!!!!"

Sorry Mr. William Stieg Fan on your Laptop but....
The probability of bringing back the older 2010 era Shrek rigs is entirely impossible, not because we don’t know if DreamWorks still has the old rigs but even if they do, the older rigs would not be compatible with the current version of Autodesk Maya without throwing up a bunch of .mel errors...

AND I REMIND YOU ALL THAT MAYA IS STILL THE INDUSTRY STANDARD REGARDLESS OF FLOW’s SUCCESS WITH THEIR USE OF BLENDER and the EEVEE renderer.
(I'm looking at you Blender Memes on FACEBOOK)

But I guess many an animation fan on Social Media does not care about the technological achievements of the movies, old and new, in favor of preferring a LOVE IT or HATE IT mentality on how they enjoy animation as a whole.
Buzz Lightyear representing the Director/Producer telling us how movies are made,
while the aliens represent the Audience who just want to enjoy.

I’m different and I often focus on the technological aspect of animation such as what software is used, what style of texturing the artist utilizes, and how many people are there for each unit of production.

I guess the reason for me having this mentality of preferring the technician's approach is because like some of you readers, I studied Animation in College.

So while I do agree Shrek looks worse for wear on his current rig, please understand that when there’s a huge gap between installments,  there’s no way the older rigs are going to work on the newest software version, especially since DreamWorks has long since ditched their older Hewlett Packard AMD Opteron systems and have moved on to AMD’s newest Threadripper Pro Workstations as supplied by LENOVO.

And this trend of RIG or SOFTWARE rollback I'm seeing from CGI fans is forcing me to tell a cautionary tale of this happening during the time of production for TOY STORY 3 back in the late 2000s.

What happened was that since PIXAR changed their hardware from SGI RISC Architecture to the more malleable x86/x64 architecture(Though still running Linux) during production of THE INCREDIBLES sometime around the early 2000s and beyond, the older rigs could not be used anymore,

The older files could still be used but only for re-rendering the movies for 3D, DVD, Blu-Ray, Ultra HD Blu-Ray, and 4K Streaming.

But the older rigs could not be used for the newest film because although the software could load the rigs properly, there was so much change to the software that the code does not work well with the new software in regards to textures and skeleton so the characters had to be rebuilt from Scratch using the newest tools available at the time.

And the reason nobody raised a stink about the difference of the models because the modelers looked at the older code and the older rigs and tweaked the newer code to make the transition work…

With the slight change of lighting due to Pixar having used a Ray-Tracing algorithm in their RENDERMAN renderer since CARS in 2006.

But then Incredibles 2 was released in 2018….
Ok so people didn’t raise a stink about the change of Software but like I said, the characters had to have newer models due to the change of hardware and Software since 2002-2004.

But then I saw on Facebook in 2023 this post about somebody complaining about the change of rig and rendering used for Tony Rydinger and how he looks different compared to the 2004 film.
Apparently, the FACEBOOK user preferred TONY's 2004 plastic face and stiff turtleneck
instead of his newer 2018 Subsurface Scattered raytraced face with a realistic turtleneck.

It’s almost as if that guy who made the post just doesn’t give a crap about software or hardware compatibility and just thinks that everything in CG animation should be compatible from version to version even if the lighting had to change due to changes in Ray-Tracing, Texturing, and subsurface scattering.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t work that way.
Software changes as new code is introduced and the older code gets shafted.

So in retrospective, you have to understand that most rigs aren't going to be compatible one way or another, that and the fact that the older hardware used more slower CPU power compared to the Multicore systems we use nowadays but then again, these films are rendered using Renderfarms instead of the computers rendering by themselves.

And I know this because I had to render several scenes in my March 2022 Thesis CATTITUDE, all because my College's Renderfarms weren't functioning properly.... well they did but the network connection to the Renderfarms were on the fritz that March.

Anyway, I find it ironic that people are criticizing DREAMWORKS for changing their rigs but people are more receptive to PIXAR when it comes to their rigs.

But then again, PIXAR is having major issues now thanks to the dismissal of John Lasseter in 2017, Pete Doctor's rise to CEO status,

And the fact that the newer films are eschewing their classic rig modeling diversity for the Samey look and I noticed on Social media that people are not receptive to DOMEE SHI’s films, especially in the wake of the Box-Office failure of ELIO.

That and the fact that some people are still PISSED at Disney's decision to force Pixar into laying off staff, including GAYLE SUSSMAN which made people upset because Gayle was responsible for saving TOY STORY 2 from digital oblivion after some idiot ran a LINUX command to delete stuff off the server.

Yeah, that is a true story.
The whole kaboom about some random idiot who ran a Linux Delete Command and nearly killed the movie.

Fortunately, Susman was working from Home when she had to care for her newborn son back in the late 90s.

To a point she had backups in her SGI OCTANE WORKSTATION to work from in the event of that.

Well it was all for naught as the version that was rescued by Susman got deleted once again when Lasseter demanded that the film be a theatrical release and requested a complete rework of the film after coming back from Europe promoting A BUG'S LIFE.

If you want to read the entire story in full, here's an old 2012 article about the incident:

Update as of August 13 2025:
I've read that SHREK 5 has been delayed to June 30th 2027.

And I've read conflicting statements on whether it's a problem with the story which is MEME-centered or whether it's a problem with the rig that was used.

I don't know but I can tell it could be the Rigs used but as I've said, DREAMWORKS no longer uses AMD Opteron but instead uses AMD THREADRIPPER for their workstations so don't expect them to just reuse the original rigs even if you demand it and even if you think the textures should be updated on the older models. As I've said in the past, Software changes and what used to work on the older versions of software might not work well on the newer version due to the change of source code.

Writing from Reality 03-Reverse Street name Surname

UGH!!! STUPID FLANDERS STREET!!!!

Sorry. Just want to give Homer Simpson some closure.

We all know that when we walk across the streets of our hometown, we see surnames like Smith, Seymour, Raymur, Granville, etc.

And wonder about the people who lent their surname to name that street.

SIMPSONS Creator MATT GROENING took a reverse approach where he named several characters after streets in his hometown of Portland, Oregon.

You know the various SIMPSONS's Characters who go by names such as Lovejoy, Flanders, Quimby, Burnside, Kearney, Terwilliger, etc.?

Yeah, Matt Groening took that approach for his characters to name many of his characters.

So that would explain the STUPID FLANDERS STREET joke from above.

I took that joke from a 2019 episode called MARGE THE LUMBERJILL.

Despite being a mediocre episode from an equally mediocre Season 31, I like the fact that it took the show this long to finally acknowledge the Street Name joke.

And yes, I was inspired by this same approach for my own Cartoon.

For example,

Hayden's family name, BRENTWOOD,

He's named after the BRENTWOOD Park neighborhood in Burnaby, BC.

Ok Ok.

So the character's family name comes from the Skytrain Station....

BRENTWOOD TOWN CENTRE.

The same goes for Mary Lougheed.

She'd named after LOUGHEED TOWN CENTRE Skytrain Station,
The Shopping Mall that's adjacent to the station,
and the highway of the same name

In fact, The Brentwoods and Lougheeds are not the only families in MARYLANDIA to be named after streets.

Shasta's family...

her family name comes from the Burkeville Park area near the Airport in Richmond, BC.

Delia,

Her name comes from Inverness Street,

A couple of blocks away from the Street that I live in.

No I will not tell you my exact address due to Privacy Concerns but I'll give you a hint:

I live Somewhere near 41st & Victoria as well as close to the Slocan Area.

That's all the hints I'll give out to anybody in Vancouver who wants to meet me in person.

Happy 30th Anniversary Windows 95 RTM Release

I’m sure some people are going to have a head start but I just can’t resist.

July 14 was the 30th Anniversary since MICROSOFT’s WINDOWS 95 was released to manufacturing back in 1995.

Amazing to think it’s been 30 years since the RTM of Microsoft’s most important Operating System but it’s true.

As a matter of fact, I represent the last of them Win95 babies as I was born in December 1997.

Yes, I did use Windows 95 and to prove it, here’s a 25 year old Digital photo of me using the OS on my Family’s Second Computer:

A VOBIS HIGHSCREEN SKY Mid-Tower

How cute was I playing on my HighScreen PC running Windows 95 as displayed on that
massive 21” KDS Avitron CRT Monitor.

I’ll be back on August 24th to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the OS’s general Release to retail.

On an unrelated but still fitting note,

The day I made this blogpost, I went to my Local BEST BUY at Cambie Street in Vancouver and bought a Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Laptop...

It's a AMD Ryzen 7 COPILOT Laptop.... ok....

For now, It's my Blogging/Email/Document Laptop for when I can't have access to main Desktop rig.

The Laptop came with a 512GB Micron SSD but I swapped that out for a 1TB Kingston SSD because Reasons.

And I input my Product Key for WINDOWS 11 Pro on my laptop because it's a professional use system.

Doug's Movie/TV Shoutouts 02

A Continuation of my previous DOUG MOVIE SHOUTOUTS post from earlier in June 2025.

Doug's Dog Date & Doug's Friend's Friend-The Two references to GENE KELLY:

You know the film SINGING IN THE RAIN?

Well Doug referenced it Twice!

One all the way back in the beginning of the Nick Era back in 1991

and later during the Disney Series' Sophomore Season in 1997

Night of the living DOUG’s-I Dream Of Patti

Well, the various Wikis have somehow spoiled the surprise but what the hey.

It seems like Patti Mayonnaise is a fan of the classic 1965-1970 Screen Gems tv series I DREAM OF JEANNIE, right down to dressing up as the titular genie as originally portrayed by Barbara Eden.

Though please tell me how did Patti grow her hair long enough to have Miss Eden’s ponytail?

As of this writing, Barbara Eden is still alive and well... though she's long since retired from acting due to age and other factors.

Doug's Monster Movie: Doug's least favorite Critics.

Even before DOUG'S 1ST MOVIE was released on March 26 1999, Doug himself was never a fan of SISKEL AND EBERT way back in 1993.

Right down to suffering from the duo giving his Monster Movie their signature Negative Review: A BIG CARDBOARD THUMBS DOWN.

Though to be honest, DOUG was not impressed with the duo giving his mother the THUMBS DOWN due to mistakenly submitting her ANTI-GARBAGE PSA to the duo as a feature film.

Though by the time DOUG'S 1ST MOVIE premiered in MARCH 1999, Gene Siskel was already dead by One Month but DOUG would still have to suffer the through Ebert's scathing responses during that time.

When Disney or Hulu revive DOUG, I better see an episode where the now Adult DOUG FUNNIE confronts DOUG WALKER (The Nostalgia Critic) for all the jokes revolving around Walker's childhood.

Dougapalooza-The Sleech Brothers' two homages

When showing the completed Monster Call to lure the Lucky Duck Monster out of the lake,

Skeeter mentions that Al and Moo may have stolen ideas from Dr. Seuss for the call’s design.

Then he says that the Brother's cutting up their Garage to allow the call to exit without trouble
reminds an old BUSTER KEATON gag.

Both times, the brothers vehemently say

"It’s a homage."

DOUG'S HOT DOG-Porkchop's French Comics Shout Out(And DOUG's love for the French)

I noticed this frame from the late 1996 episode DOUG'S HOT DOG where PORKCHOP is fuming at the lost puppy who's replacing him.
While many would see these ANGRY EYES as a major OFF-MODEL design even for Porkchop, and even for Disney,

one could defend that these eyes were probably meant to pay homage to FRENCH COMIC Designs where they often had characters who's eyeballs are sort of merged together.

Think SPIROU Comics, Marsupulami(Not the Disney Version), or THE SMURFS...

As an add extra bit of trivia, Nickelodeon's Doug, at least between Seasons 2-4, was animated by the French, alongside the Korean Hanho Heung-Up and their usual Animation Services.

But when Disney took over, the French were not contacted to do the overseas animation.
Instead, Disney's Doug's Animation was outsourced to BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD'S (and KING OF THE HILL'S) overseas studio PLUS ONE ANIMATION.

DOUG GRADUATES-The Wizard of Bluffington Elementary

We all know that one of DOUG's imagination spots about an unseen Principal is clearly referencing the 1939 MGM film THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Great reference
but I want to see PRINCIPAL BUTTSAVICH'S real Face MAD-DAMMIT!!!

DOUG'S SOUR SONGBIRD-Sound of Music Mountains

While the episode may be infamous amongst fans due to retconning Patti as being bad at singing despite being shown to sing decently in the Nick era and yes, she sang decently well in the the Disney Episode DOUG'S BIG PANIC, this episode is rife with some good choices of movie references.

For example, when DOUG is told that Patti won't sing at the Anthem contest due to getting sick, DOUG imagines himself as....

Ok, he doesn't cross dress but rather he takes the place of MARIA VON TRAPP and stands on a mountain while HALLELUJAH plays in the background.

DOUG'S SOUR SONGBIRD-Frankenstein Cosplay

Also from said episode, when Doug is caught lying to Patti about her singing, he imagines himself as FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER with Patti as THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

What are they running from?

A Mob over Patti's singing.

Should be both DOUG and PATTI getting chased over THOMAS LYONS' casting, and the fact that his performance was a wasted potential given how close to Billy West's FRY voice LYONS' made to his FRANCIS MCREARY character.

Though like I said,

DOUG is better off as an ignorant Pizza Delivery Boy instead of an arrogant Corrupt Liberty City Cop.

DOUG'S 1ST MOVIE-A Tribute to a Canadian Animator's love for Kaiju.

And to save the best for last since it's CANADA DAY 2025...

A tribute to a Canadian Animator....

But this time, it's from DOUG'S 1ST MOVIE.

I sort of laughed at this bit when I saw this on the film where Roger imagines himself being crushed by the Lucky Duck Monster's Foot.

The DOUG Wiki incorrectly assumed it was CUPID'S FOOT from MONTY PYTHON but I've seen the film numerous times and that foot actually belongs to Godzilla from MARV NEWLAND'S 1969 Short Film BAMBI MEETS GODZILLA.

And here's another fun fact, this was probably Jim Jinkins’ way of celebrating NEWLAND'S 30th anniversary of that film since the short was from April 1969 while DOUG's 1ST MOVIE was from Late March 1999.

If only my father took me to the FAMOUS PLAYERS METROPOLIS Cinema back in 1999 to watch the film but then again, he'd take me to watch Star Wars Phantom Menace, Tarzan, Iron Giant, and maybe SOUTH PARK in that exact Multiplex back in the day if he wanted to.

The 10-Screen Multiplex theater is still operating to this day though it's now run by Cineplex since 2005.
