Maverick Quickie-The best way to abuse awful characters without losing your job

Somewhere along the line during production, there'll be a chance when some writer, designer, creator, or even executive writes in a truly awful character that no one likes but the executives push that character in NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS.

That unfortunately gave us the likes of JAR JAR BINKS, Scrappy-Doo, the JACKOVASAURUS, Sparky the Dog, Chloe Carmichael, etc.

There comes a time however where members of the production team will say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH so they devised solutions to abuse the hell out of disliked characters the best they could without losing their jobs.

According to John K., The 80s revival of THE JETSONS introduced us to the most awful character created and that's ORBITTY..... He's the little alien above being held by the nape of the neck by ASTRO the dog who's 10 times better than ORBITTY.

Why did HB create such an awful character?

Well Joe and Iwao fell victim to E.T's appeal so they wanted to emulate that but that somehow backfired. Now think twice before glorifying with your 80's cartoons and stop and think of how dysfunctional the production process was like back then.

As luck would have it, the writers actually hated ORBITTY as much as the audience did. In fact, they hated ORBITTY so much that they decided to write in scenes where the stupid little alien gets abused in many ways possible.

Here's a totally upset ASTRO using ORBITTY as a makeshift Kleenex.

Orbitty is not amused but we don't give a crap and neither does Astro.

Now if only someone talked George Lucas into having a Wookie threaten a Gungan back in 1994 when THE PHANTOM MENACE was being written on that Apple PowerBook Duo but oh well, at least his role was severely reduced in the later prequels.... I guess George took the Gungan's backlash with a considerable dollop of salt after all.

As far as it goes, I don't know if writers still do that for Modern Cartoons. I've shut myself out of most Modern Western Cartoons since 2014 with only a few slipups but I can guess executives have only gotten more strict with their enforced NO ABUSE POLICY on characters created for these shows...... unless the script calls for it.

But HB writers writing scenes abusing ORBITTY still counts as being in the script right?
If anybody has proof that Modern Cartoon Writers still abuse shitty characters, let me know and I'll see if that slipped in by actually watching these shows.

So far, the only example I've found is Brian Griffin's Nephew being eaten by a Velociraptor.
At least Family Guy knows that adding SCRAPPY-DOO was not a good idea unlike HB.

Speaking about that, I hope the writers caused a lot of harm for the characters of PRIMOS.
I'm still mad about the concept of that show and I'm not looking forward to it later in 2024.
